1. The tax
rate is $1.29 per $100.00. The property tax is based upon 100% of assessed
valuation.
2. The
low tax rate is due to a blend of residential homes and major corporations
which have their home offices located along our "Billion Dollar Mile"
on U.S. Route 9W.
3. There are
no sewerage charges or garbage pickup charges. The Borough pays these
charges through taxes collected. If private service is your desire, you
would have to contract and pay for it yourself. Garbage is collected twice
weekly.
4. We
are located one mile north of the George Washington Bridge and have good
Public Transportation to New York City.
5. Our schools are rated excellent
· Busing is available.
· We have two schools: Grades K through 2 are in the North Cliff
School, located on Floyd Street; Grades 3 through 8 are in the Upper School,
located on Charlotte Place.
· At present, we send our High School students to Dwight Morrow
High School in the City of Englewood.
6. The Police Department has a compliment of 25 officers and
is located in the Municipal building.
7. The Volunteer Ambulance Corps is on call 24 hours a day
and is highly regarded as one of the most efficient.
8. The Volunteer Fire Department has a membership of 25 men,
and operates 24 hours a day. The department has four trucks including
a 100" aerial ladder truck.
9. Service organizations include: Senior Citizens Club, Democratic
and Republican Clubs, UNITI, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce.
10. The recreation program is in operation all year. There are presently
7 tennis courts, [two on Hudson Terrace, and five are at Witte Memorial
Field], two playgrounds, and an athletic field. Some of the many programs
are: Little League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, Babe Ruth League,
Basketball, Ponytail Softball, Soccer, Summer Camp and much more. |
